Is changing timing on TBI worth it?

I was thinking about changing the timing on my girlfriend's 90' TBI Formula for a little more power. Is this worth it? As I understand, it will be necessary to run 92 Octane with the new timing. Also, what is the optimum setting? Thanks.

Yea, definitely worth it. I ran 8* advance on 92/93 with no problems.

I agree with the rest 6-8*. Total timing stock is less than 20* at WOT, just so you know.

So what is the most you could do and still run 89 octane? Since I do not have a timing light, I will have to bring it to the shop so what will I have to say to them to tell them what I want? Thanks.

what kinda gains would i get if i did it? gas mileage go down? when you "advance" your timing does the spark happen earlier and retard= later? thanks

Find a friend that has a timing light, also a small procedure to adj. timing(removing SA wire brown/tan with a black stripe near the heater fan.)

Otherwise,
6 or 8* would be safe IMO. It's gonna depend on other factors. Plugs, carbon deposites, air filter etc. Kinda like adj. tire pressure.

All that stuff is less than a year old. I think I wil go with 8 degrees advance over stock.
