Cat question......
Cat question......
Lookin to buy a new Cat yadda yadda. Its for an 89 Camaro RS. I was wondering if this cat here would have any problems in terms of clearance from the ground. The Overall Width(in) is 4 so i just wanted to get peoples opinions on if its going to be scraping the ground or not.
My Camaro isnt lowered at all. Its still at the stock height.
Thanks for any info provided and i cant wait to see the concept Camaro

Re: Cat question......
This CAT has a 3/4" larger radius then your standard 2.5" pipe. That means it will stick down 3/4" further than the exhaust pipe. You should be able to tell by looking if this will be a problem or not.
Re: Cat question......
Looks like a good deal. I would either go with that or a CatCo hi-flow race cat (in which case I did). Only thing is, they are $200 bucks
But also, you might want to round that cat-size up to a 3" or so, as catalytic converters are EXTREMELY restrictive. By going up to a 3", you wont have to worry about it being a kink in your system as much as a 2 1/4 or 2.5 inch convertor

So if you go w/ a cat an inch or so larger than your normal exhaust, you wont have quite as bad as a kink

Re: Cat question......
If you need a new cat, just grab a catco or carsound (magnaflow) cat off of ebay for $50.00. The difference in flow from a fancy $200 "race" cat to a standard hi-flow cat is pretty much non-existant.
Getting a cat that has a larger inlet/outlet then the rest of your exhaust tubing would prolly cause more disturbance in flow that it is worth. Ideally you should have a full 3" exhaust.
