hi
whats the most power and et that anyone here has seen on the stock bottom end not including piston, just cast rods and crank?
Does anyone here also know anyone running a 20/20 cast crank with serious power?
thanks

Re: cast hp rating?

power isnt realy the issue but reliability. i have seen a 10 sec lt1 with a stock bottom end and turbos. however you cant expect it to last. if you try to cheat yourself out of good internals and try to get 600hp out of stock bottom ends your gonna pay in the long run(or maybee short run)

I ran high 11's with a cheap 383. Factory 400 crank, rods, rod bolts. Cast 350 pistons. Heavily ported 2.02/1.60 camel heads. Solid flat tappet cam with around .550 lift. After 2 years it finally threw a rod but I was also shifting at 7000 rpm.

The engine was in the car when I bought it. The only thing I did to the engine was get rid of the 76cc smog heads. I got 2 years and about 200 passes on it before it let go. After that I found out the engine was in 2 other cars and had a lot of miles on it. I can't complain about how well it ran and it just goes to show you need need a lot of exotic parts to go fast. The high quaility parts just keep it together longer.

9.66 @ 136 with a stock rod/crank 355, 14:1 pistons. Shifting at 8,000rpm with a 2 bolt studded stock 350 block.

Dart 230 Pro 1 heads out of the box, a Super Vic, Dominator, a cam that would make you giggle if you read the specs,th350, Longtubes, 28X10's, 3800+lb raceweight, and a 200 shot fogger setup. Multiple bottles, many many passes and it was torn down before it grenaded.

And then I've seen people scatter rods on low 12 second passes. it's crazy
