Your slave cylinder line should be braided steel line. A compression fitting is highly unadvisable. When you think about the pressures that line sees being hydraulic and all it may leak or burst. Get a new one. A quick fix isn't worth your life when it bursts on the highway and spits fluid all over your tires at 70mph and you spin out and end up in a tree upside down.

I relize that the line is under IMMENSE hydraulic power, but I have a friend (actually it's my best-friends dad) that uses compression fittings all the time on his brake-lines when he just wants to replace a PART of the line, and not the whole thing. He says that the compression fittings have NEVER failed on him in all his years. Not a leak or anything.
And besides, in order to replace the line myself, I would have to drop the brake-booster and the steering column to get to the primary cylinder

I don't see why putting a fitting on it wouldn't work. Although it really isn't all that hard to remove the complete hydraulic system..

Go to a parts store and look at a packaged compression fitting. What's it say on the back?

NOT FOR USE ON AUTOMOTIVE BRAKE SYSTEMS.

Yep, they are not for use in brake systems.

I have had a compression fitting on my rear brakes for a few years now with no problems. Just use them at your own risk.

What I am saying is that there is a difference between solid lines and braised steel HOSE! How are you going to put a compression fitting on somthing thats rubber overlaid with a steel mesh?

Also, if this is the same as doing what you're talking about on an LT1 car, I have personally gotten that part off without removing the brake booster. You loosen the booster up, yes, but you don't need to physically remove it. But again, I have only done this on an LT1 car.

My friend said that I would hvae to remove the brake-booster, which in turn means dropping the whole steering column. Not sure if he is right though What is involved in dropping the brake-booster? Is it very straigh-forward?
Are you positive that the clutch slave cylinder lines are only braided steel hosing? It feel's solid and it is VERY rigid.
