I usually DO have somebody that knows what they are doing looking over my shoulder, but the ONE time he is not there I fock it up
Thanks for the best-of-luck though Doug; I will be calling a few friends and a few machine-shops tomorow.

Ok, here is an update. YES, I tapped the car. 7/16 20-pitch worked GREAT I have EVERYTHING back together, and it looks awesome!
Now heres the bummber The car STILL wont start. The exhaust sounds gassy/powerful/full of live yet again, but it just cranks. Could it be a timing issue? (The car doesn't want to even *Try* starting again.. it just cranks.)
Thanks all,
Matt

Wondering, did you ever pull #1 plug to check that rotor was pointing at #1 terminal on cap when #1 was at TDC firing? Too lazy to read whole thread.

Not sure, but since all i changed was the crank timing I am assuming yes. My battery was dead so I have it charging, but I will check the spark and compression (I forgot I checked the fuel yesterday; I disconnected the fuel-line from the carb and it was loaded w/ fuel)

Just because the line from the pump is getting fuel doesn't mean the carb is. It is possible that the floats could be stuck, especially if the carbs been sitting.

Hm.. ok, I just thought of this. Remember when the timing was messed up (crank timing) and I said the carb was spewing fuel? I think the carb is getting fuel Since when I crank the car now it doens't spit fuel, is there another way to tell? Or should I pull a plug and put my finger over it?

Go over everything again. Pull a plug wire off of a plug and make sure you have a nice hot spark, shine flashlight into carb to make sure you see fuel flowing through it, and rotate the motor by hand to make sure that the timing is accurate.

So I should be able to see if fuel is flowing into the carb while somebody is cranking? Doesn't anybody here think that perhaps the timing is off 180* or something?

Blip the throttel a few times and if you see the fuel shoot out, you know you are getting gas. Check to see if all the wires are hooked up, like the power source to the coil also go over rocker lash.
If you got fuel and spark then check the rocker lash for sure. If all checks out and she still wont start turn the distributer a little and see if that helps.

Yes if the lash is too tight, it could prevent it from starting as the valves will hang open. It will crank over but very hard. Yes turing the distributer moves the timing, if you are off, it could give you a clue that the distributer is a tooth or two off.

Hm.. is turning the dist. just as good as actually moving it a tooth or two over?
I will have to check the rocker-lash..
Oh ya, I just remembered.. it lieks to backfire or something outta the exhaust. Since all I have on is headers, every so often I hear some kind of airy-popping noise.
Know what that could be?
