Car wont start

Ok, so thursday i went to get my car out of winter storage and it wouldn't start. So i initially hooked it up to jump it off my other camaro. After 15 minutes of being hooked up, nothing happened. I mean the car didn't make an attempt to turn over. To make a longer story short, i took the starter out, had it tested and put a new battery in. Well after a new battery and the starter and silinoid being good, no luck. I was wondering if anyone could lead me towards the right direction to go in from here. The car still doesn't make an attmept to start, that means no clicking, nothing. I am running out of patients with this thing.

Does the ignition come on inside the car? Does anything else get power? Check fuses, check grounds, check for voltage in the ignition, etc..

Re: Car wont start

Well from the get go i never had any interior lights like the dome and guages. So that is normal. That was a problem i was going to tackle when i got the car out but now i have this to deal with. I replaced the power wire battery to the starter. I'm still not getting any kind of attempt from the car wanting to start.

Re: Car wont start

Ground from motor to chasis. Just hook a jumper cable up from solid metal on motor to frame, and see it it tries at that point....

When you turn the key do you hear the fuel pump power up? Mine is very loud and it would be easy to notice if it took a ****.

Re: Car wont start

Is it a stick car? If not, try it in neutral. Have someone turn the key while you check for power on the little wire of the starter. Also make sure its on the right post. If you have power there, assuming you're also getting power on the big wire, have someone turn the key while you hit starter w/ a hammer. Just because a starter bench tests "good" doesn't mean it is. I've gone thru it with starters, fuel pumps, dist modules, window motors, etc.
I'll try to remember tomorrow to look at which wires to jump on the neutral switch. It's been too long since I had to replace mine.

Does the check engine light come on when you turn the ignition ?

One night in my IROC i took a turn real fast and the check engine light flashed and a few blocks my car just stalled. I thought it was the battery but it wasnt come to find out that a wire got tangled up in the steering column and when i turned i pulled it off something and it was what made the car shut off not get any power. If I remembered right this wire ran thru the back by the distributor I should have asked the mechanic what that wire was for.

That is why I asked you if the check engine light came on nothing was coming on for me not even the fuel pump.

K, try jumping the yellow wire and the purple wire on the gear selector switch on the bottom on the shifter.

Re: Car wont start

Ok, tonight i went to work on the car again and i tried hitting it with a hammer and it didn't work. I tried to jump the starter and it didn't work but i'm not sure if i was doing that right or not. The check engine light doesn't come on, i don't think it ever has. I keep hearing that it might be a fuseable link which is from the steering column to the starter. Its the black wire right? I'm not sure how to replace a fuseable link either.
