The Security light comes on too. It sounds like the silonoid is clicking but no start. It is almost like somthing is keeping the power from the starter. The security system was supposible disabled and hasnt been used in years. I dont know what is up now.

THe air bag system is not linked to the rest of the vehicle- it's stand-alone. It won't prevent the car from starting.

If someone disabled the VATS (security system) and it's now gone active again for some reason that could prevent starting. You won't even get a click.

Check your park/neutral switch before you freak out. Try starting in Neutral or jsut jiggling the gear shift- if that's the problem you can often get it to start if the switch is just getting a little flaky. If it's bad, likewise, you won't even get a click.

On a 3rd gen I beleive it is actually near the shifter itself, inside the console. Once you see it, it's operation should be pretty self-explanatory.

Can you hear the solenoid click when you try to start it? If so then you probably just need a new starter.
