The 305 TBI starts and then dies right away..what should I check? If I start it up and hold the gas pedal down it will cough and stutter, rev up till 3000 rpms, settle down and drive just fine. Seems like it's not getting enough fuel during start up. Kind of sucks that I have to rev it up so high every time for it to start. Any help is appreciated.

 

does it seem like it has lost power since this has been happening if so check ur cat it may be cloged

 

Sounds like a vacuum leak under the T/B, spray some carb cleaner arond the base gasket using the red straw on the can. If the idle makes a noticable drop, you've found a leak.
My truck TBI was missing a piece of the T/B gasket an inch wide. It acted the very same way...
