Can somebody give me some advice please??? I just rebuilt the 305 in my 88 IROC. It fires up and idles a little high, but as soon as you put it in gear (700R4 by the way) it dies. The only way to keep it running is to drive with both feet. As I gave My IROC to my 16 year old daughter for her birthday, it's a little much for her to master yet. HELP!!

 

This is usually common with the TPI engines. Its either your tps (throttle position sensor) or a bad chip in your computer. I have had both happen to me.
Are you getting any codes?

 

No, no codes. Before the rebuild, I got codes for voltage but the voltage checks out now.

 

Hows the IAC? What is your idle set at?

 

was wondering if the IAC could be the problem. The car idles around 1000 to 1100 right now. Throttle shaft seems a little sloppy, too.
