Okay, this is the plan. I have a stock '88 305 TPI Iraoc. I want to upgrade several things. Of course, headers, exhaust, runners and TB. That stuff I think I'm good on. However, I have no idea what cam to put in. Can you guys help me out?

 

well you can't just put a cam in, what heads are you using?

 

I'm using the stock heads for now. I just want to know what a good cam would be as an upgrade to the stock one. I also plan on putting roller rockers in.

 

I'd wait for a while. Unless you are doing something different, most 88s I see are in the junkyard or needing a new motor. If you are ABSOLUTELY sure that there is nothing wrong with your motor (compression and leakdown tests) I would wait for the rebuild. Then you can have a 383 instead of building up your 305 and have it break on you. I stuffed heads and cam on my 350 only to have it break it 6 months. It was blowing smoke when I hit it and sometimes even when I wasn't. I was royally upset.
