The 3rd gens 350 is not all that fast stock, it has somewhere around 220-230 hp and about 3-330 torque. It is about a mid to high 14 sec car i think. As for cars it can beat, almost any economy car and the non turbo dsm's should be fairly easy. I cant think of anything else at the moment.

Well I for one have never had the earlier gen Supra whoop my '92 Z. And as for the Eclipse they taste kind of like chicken. lol the one time I did get smacked by a Supra was by the newer 320 hp model. If I'm not mistaken I believe the earlier gen. was rated at about 230 hp. I have a friend who had one and said he was suprised my Z was factory rated higher than his '88 Supra. Considering they weigh in like an F-body at a portly 3300 - 3500 lbs dry I can't see how they can be much more than a 5.7 TPI F-body. My buddies wasn't as fast as my Z. Don't be afraid to stomp on some of the rice rods but be aware some of them can and will hand you your a$$. Oh the Accura NSX is bad too, around here some think the so-called Integra-R is fast but is that for real or is it a sticker, I have a regular diet of them, almost to a point of getting bored with them. the Eagle Talon TSI is pretty good from 60 - 125 but the 5.7 torque will usually prevail on the stoplight wars and has long legs enough on the top end to run away there too. Hey open a can of whup-a$$ and have fun.

Only things that scare me in my 90 Iroc-Z 5.7 are the 4thgen LS1/LT1's, C4 & C5 Corvettes, Porsches and cars of that caliber. I'll eat any Civic, Prelude, Eclipse (not the earlier turbos) etc... not much can take on our torque load. And once the TPI is tossed for a Superram or something higher revving, watch the F* out!.

Dsm's are extremely fast when modified, yet alone.......watch out!

the fastest i've been able to get my car is mid 13's on the stock engine. (this is of course without dr's)

it all depends on the mods.....

It's all based on power to weight. The f-body isn't very powerful in stock trim, even the 5.7L ones. Throw that into a car that can tip the scales at over 3500 pounds and you get a very poor power to weight ratio.

Enter a little turbo'd 4 or 6 cylinder car with about the same amount of HP that might weigh 2800 pounds at the most and you get a better power to weight ratio. The car will be quicker.

Go back to the other end of the scale. 1970 Chevelle 454SS was more powerfull than a L98 car but isn't as fast since the car is close to 4000 pounds. However the engine also was able to let the car tow a huge camper trailer behind it. Todays cars can only pull a little utility trailer.
