C5 transaxle into a 3rd gen?
Anyone do it.....I told me buddy what you said about the rears being completely different and how the C5 rear wouldn't work in a 3rd gen.....he told me anything will fit anything...why do it the easy way when you can custom fab everything....anyone do this....I'm not actually thinking about doing it...but it's something to think about.

anything is possible with enough money and talent. If you don't have plenty of both, don't waste your time. You'd have to fabricate a completely new rear subframe and rear floor, and probably have to run a fuel cell somewhere inside the car.
You'd have a better chance if you just hung the thirdgen body right over the C5's torque tube complete with front & rear suspension.

You'd have to move the gas tank...redesign the rear subframe to fit the IRS and transaxle...scrap the back seat and raise the rear floorpan enough to clear the front of the transaxle...come up with some custom linkage work for the shifter if you wanna go 6-speed...custom driveshaft...probably custom half-shafts because I doubt the C5 ones are the right length...wiring work...if you have a cable-driven speedo then you need a cable that's about 5' longer (good luck with that)...
Basically it's just not even remotely close to anywhere near the vicinity of the ballpark of being worth it.
