True, but the prices Strahley listed included the tranny and everything needed.

Ahhh, true true...sorry about that. Not thinking clearly.

Question for you all as long as we're on this topic... I'm looking into switching over to something fuel injected...and instead of hopping to an L98, as fun and simple as that would be, I'd rather get into an LS1. But I don't know anything about the 4l60E tranny's... do you perform the same modifications on them as you would the non-computerized 700R4? Or are there different modifications to be made?

How easy would the install be to put an LS1 and tranny into a previously carburated thirdgen? I've never messed with wiring harnesses or anything like that before. Its always just been a bolt on and go... Would the cost of install for this (if I didn't do it myself) be higher then a simple carb motor to carb motor by a considerable amount?

I don't know which tranny's will hook up to an LS1, but I do know that anything is possible with money. You could throw a Hemi in your car if the price was right. You'd have to ask a mechanic or something about install prices, but I think the others here can give you a price on the parts

The LS1 is a good engine, however I think it can be reproduced cheaply. I mean, a brand new LS1 is what, 5500 to 6000 bucks? Edelbrock makes a performer 350 cid that pumps out 410 horses, for I think half of that. It's carb though, but can't you switch carb over to fuel injection?

Again for the tranny, maybe you should just go with a T56 and not worry about what will and won't hook up

Yeah, I have to keep it automatic sadly... a large portion of my funding for this poor car is coming from my father, who refuses to drive stick in his old age.

Hehe I don't really mind the carburated... was looking at building up a 383 stroker, or maybe a 400... just was thinking about fuel economy/technology a bit. Carburated is more bang for the buck, I just don't like getting less then 10 miles to the gallon.
