which is the best route to go for an engine?

I plan to start building up my Z slowly this summer. I plan to do it all with a 350 powerplant, maybe even stroking it to a 383 to get more power. My goal is to evenually run 12.8 - 13.2 passes.

I'm having trouble, however deciding exactly what I should start with. Here are the ideas I've been pondering...

1. Find an engine at a junkyard and if I could only find a 2-bolt main then I'd have them splayed to a 4-bolt while having a good mechanic look it over for any problems with the block.

2. http://www.chevy350engines.com/vc01.html (I guess this one is already bored .30 over right? So, I could just go ahead an put in a set of Keith Black pistons for .30 overbore?

3. http://www.dallasexportsales.com/383390SB.htm (or just go with a 383 stroker already)

I just need some insight as to how you guys started your project. Right now I'm on a budget...I am still 18, so I just wanna pick the best thing to get started.

the easiest way would be to just buy a crate motor. that is the right i would take.

and there isn't much difference between teh 2 bolt main and 4 bolt. you need a lot of power to break a 2 bolt main block, and it sounds like you want be making it...but check out summit or jegs and take a look at their crate motors.

unless you wanna build it yourself?? is htat what you're going for?

if i were going to do a crate motor i would spend the extra money on something with some forged internals. that way you're safeer if you decide to add some nitrous or to throw on a blower in the future when you feel the need for more hp.
