I just did a homemade ram air on my 92 RS and I could notice a difference in the higher rpm's. The car pulls way better at WOT from between 3500-5000rpm's now. And it cost me less then 10 dollars to do!

That's interesting. I can't remember which magazine did a test and found that ram air was only significantly better at speeds of 125 and upwards.

Well, the articles I saw on ram-air system showed a .2-.4 improvement in 1/4 time.

The Ram Air mod (at least for my 4th gen) helped a great deal. At 125mph the Ram Air box might work at it fullest but when you open your induction system up to free flowing air and not cramp it up in a constrictive fender wall you will see improvements/gains. ie, at WOT my LT1 inhails 8 cubic feet of air a second (so ive heard)the induction system sits in a one cubic foot area in the fender wall so at WOT the CAI is gasping for more air then the space it's in can provide. So opening the area up like cutting your airbox and sticking a ram air system in, is freeing up and making more cubic area for your induction system to breath. Did I make any sense? I don't know but it works. Take care

Question

Hey Rally Sport, what did you build your Ram Air out of? Flashing? and give me details on how to do it. Thanx.

Ram air is a myth. It would be better to call it a cai, because thats all it really is.

Rage, I basically made a dual snorkel air cleaner, I cut a whole in my air cleaner and put another snorkel in, then used tubing and attatched it to the snorkel, and ran it up into the headlights where the cold air can get in.
Your sig says you have TPI, I have TBI so i dont know if this will help you
