B&M Mega Shifter install????

There is a plug of 6 wires or so that plug into the stock shifter...do I just leave it unplugged when I put the new shifter in or what???? I bought it from a friend and don't have any instructions...
Thanks,
Adam

That is for your reverse lights and neutral safety switch. If I were you, I'd write to B&M and get the directions. When I had it, I had to get something from Radio Shack to make it work. It was in the instructions. Of course, you could hotwire it to make it work but you'd lose reverse lights.

I installed one in my brothers 86 IROC, all I remember for wiring was a pair of switches that you plug in for the startup and reverse light setup. The shifter kit came with the switches, didn't see anything about stuff to buy at radioshack?

Anyway, cool shifter. I had to take my dremel with a grinding stone on it and grind down a bit of the mechanism to keep it from hitting the underside of the console though. Need to get one for my 87Z.

Here's their website, try emailing them and asking if they can send you the instructions via email or something. http://www.bmracing.com/

That was years ago and my car had the trunk release so I think that had something to do with that purchase from Radio Shack. I do remember the reverse and Neutral Safety switches.
