Post anyone using an MSD 6AL?

if so what are your opinions on it? what setup are you using along with it?

I need to get a new cap, coil and rotor for my car like NOW and I was just thinking about upgrading to the MSD 6AL along w/ the rest of the MSD components.

I'm running an HEI distributor w/ MSD Super Conductor wires and and MSD Super HEI Ignition module (I know that will be bypassed w/ the 6AL box) I am hoping to be doing a 383 builup this winter while the car is in storage so should I just upgrade the ignition system now or just do the cap and stuff for now? the setup I am looking at is the kit which has PN 8500 its everything that I need to put it in and get her running well again.

thanks

Thumbs up

I use one in both of my cars. the 86 is carbed and has full msd in it. ie. distritor, cap, coil, 6al. def. a good upgrade if you plan on reving higher then stock levels and/or making more power. its a must have for nitrous/superchargers (IMO) plus it has the rev limiter.

I have the pro-billet distributor, seperate blaster coil, and the 6AL box, taylor spiro-pro wires, and AC rapidfire plugs. Works great, durable, and was worth the money,(the distributor is machined from a solid piece of aluminum) Makes the powerband alot smoother.

i have the 6al box with probillet distributor, blaster 3 coil, msd wires, and ac plugs. the setup works really good for me. you have to put the box in a spot where it isnt gonna get hot though. i tried to conceal mine on the firewall and on really hot days or in traffic i will have a miss at constant throttle. gonna buy a small fan for it though. should take care of it. good luck i really recommend going with the stroker.

Im using the 6al box with a blaster 3 coil and my original external coil distributor, it works great especially when the tachs bouncing around 6500rpm because of the rev limiter... gotta get a new chip
