Another T-56 swap question in which Search Cannot help.

Motor is an 87 TPI, but the T-56 is from a 95' bird, will the starter from the 87' work on the T56? Will it sit on the bellhousing without any problems? thanx

It depends. Most people say their automatic starter will not work but I know a couple people who say theirs did. I had a T5 starter and it bolted up just fine.

I did the a4 to a m5 swap and the nose on the auto starter was to big for the bellhousing. I would imagine that the same would go for a t-56.

Anybody that swapped to a manual and didn't have to change their starter already had a manual starter and didn't know it.

What do you mean the LT1 has less flywheel teeth? The LT1 has 153 teeth, just like the thirdgens use.
