All show NO GO !

Ok here's my problem I got a 91" RS 305 5spd. Yeah it's a cool project car and all comming along fairly well. BUt I can't seem to get it to start. But When it does start it wont stay running/ I have changed out the starter, fuel pump, map censor, fuel filters(both tank and chassie), and I still can't seem to get it to run corectly. I have tried just about everythign that i know of and still getting stumped anyone know what it could be ?

If It doesnt stay running that long look at your MAF (if It has one) either that or Go down to your auto parts store & spend $300 for a Code Scaner (worth the money) & run the codes. If you go to http://www.angelfire.com/wa3/ivhorsepower/diag.html There is most of the codes.

It most likely is the coolant temp sensor located on the intake manifold or the thermostat housing. It has yellow and black wires going to it. They cost less than $10 and go bad over time, making the engine run pig rich and fouling out spark plugs and causing other driveability problems. It sometimes won't set a check engine light either.

No offense but I have to disagree with you on this one. I would spend nothing, unravel a paperclip and use that to read the codes. All you have to do is jump the upper right terminal along with the one to its left. You have to have the car in the on position but not started. The SES light will blink for a little bit. It will blink once then pause and then blink twice. It will do that 3 times and then if there is a code it will blink at different intervals. So if it is a code 33 it will flash three times pause and then three more times. Hopefully that makes sense.

i know you said you already replaced the fuel pump but it certainly sounds like thats the problem, you might want to check and make sure that you put in right!

Thanks guys,

WellI'll be sure to tell my friend since Im just posting his question for him. BUt anyway yeah hi uncle said there's a chance that the feul pump relays may be bad or something like that. But I don't think he has checked the coolent sensor or anything like that. I'll be sure to tell him too.

Sorry I would disagree with that too. you guys may have money to spend on headers, heads & stuff like that. But on my husbands car having that scanner saved us well over $6,000 on Shop bills because of it. I am sorry I dont trust back yard Mechanic of doing things. Dont get me wrong I know some great back yard Mechs & I trust them to look at my car. But come on Paperclip to read codes??????? I think not.

Have you tried it? That $.02 or what ever it cost "tool" has saved me a ton of money as well. I have been told by many mechanic friends to not waste my money on a scanner because it does the same thing as the paperclip. If you visit www.thirdgen.org you will read that a lot of people over there suggest it as well. In all honesty to each their own. I personally will continue using the paperclip because it works and has for many years without fail.

Yes I have Talked to many ppl who have tired that & have also tried to the scanner. Most CAR ppl around here suggest the scanner.
As for TGO Yes I deal with them when I have to most guys there are rude & Try to force others to see their way about it.
We have own our scanner for 2yrs now & as I said it has saved up over $6000 in shop bills.
