The MAF sensor is part of the intake duct. The intake charge flows through it, and it measures how much air is passing through. It is a black portion of the duct with a plug and wires coming out of it. If you mean a sensor right by the throttle body, then this is the IAC (Idle Air Control).

Yes, that is the MAF sensor from the way you described it. If it is working improperly, the car will run very rich, and will not have the same power. This is assuming that it is unplugged. When mine went bad, and it was still plugged in, the car searched for idle, and would stumble all over the place when given more than 3/4 throttle. It had no response whatsoever. If you are having these symptoms, disconnect it and see it gets better (computer will go off TPS). I would not recommend driving for extended periods of time without a working MAF.

Out of 5 little pins in the sensor one of them got chewed by my alt band. I think that is enuff to make the sensor not work right? How much do these sensors go for?

Could this be the answer to why my car looses so much power after like 10 mins of driving?

This could very well be your problem. And yes, one wire will make the sensor not work. They can be very pricey, among the most expensive sensors. Anywhere from $50 used to $200 for a new one. Is it possible to repair the one you have? ie solder the wire back together?
Good luck.
