Air Foil Question...
from what my friend tells me, all air foils (TPiS, JET, and even those cheap-o's you get on ebay) are the same... is this true? if it's not true, which do you believe (or has been proven) to flow better? im not in the mood to spend $20 on an air foil that wont do **** when i can spend another $10 on a better one that'll get me a few more ponies. reason i want one is because i have the home made ram air setup and i think an air foil would do me some good
thanks guys
thanks guys
Did nothing on my LT1, I've heard they work better on a TPI. I never did try it with my GTA, and guess I won't get the chance now. Oh well. Try one and see what you get, at most you're out 30 bucks or so, not a big loss.
i was thinking about getting another tb so i went online and did a few searches but i didnt find the answer i was looking for. i wanted to know which aftermarket tb flowed the best... and even though im not making a lot of power right now, should i get a 58mm tb? im going to end up stroking my car out anyways, so i'd hate to have to get a 52 mm one for now, sell it, and go get a 58mm one...
52 mm TB is enough for most street racing cars, even stroked engines. And air foils don't really do much, less than 1 rwhp on LT1s, and probably about the same on an L98. 52mm TBs don't even do much, maybe a couple rwhp on a bolt on engine. Reason being is the 48mm stock one isn't that restrictive for only those mods. Now on a heads and cam engine it might do more hp, but I'd wait until you stroke the engine to get a bigger TB. 58mm cost the same, might as well wait and just get that one.
Save your money on an air-foil and put it toward the price of a 52mm TB it will be big enough for your application. If you go 58mm your going to have to port your plenum so the throttle plates will open and it won't give you anymore power than the 52mm as your intake will restrict the air flow any way.
Good idea for a blown car but otherwise...
Save yer money for gas or look for a used one. Someone usually sells theirs to recoop the money they basically got scammed for by buying it..
I know I included mine with some ported intake parts just to be a nice guy.haha

i hear adds for air foil's that are supposed to smooth air flow and net you a hp gain. I hear adds for tb spacers that make the air swirl giving you better fuel atomization. I figure theyre both just bs and ESPECIALLY on a stock intake system neither are going to make a damn bit of difference. I bet buying a bottle of fuel injector cleaner would help more then an air foil.

And I have a modded 350 and do have a airfoil and it did not contribute those numbers to my rear wheels.
