Air Damn?? Custom air boxes ??

somebody was having an overheating problem with there car, and somebody said check the air damn / front spoiler, well my question is, what exaclty could go wrong with it?? clogged? my other question is that if you get those custom air boxes to connect the filters to the air damn, would this make the car overheat since there is no air going to the radiator?
thanks

An air damn, is just a peice flat peice of .5" plastic. It sits under your radiator, and forces air up into it to help the radiator get the air it needs to cool properly. This is necesary because our cars dont have much for front grills. The only thing that could go wrong with it is if it were broken badly, or broken all the way off period. These sit pretty low to the ground so its very possible for it to get knocked off.

And a custom air box should have anything to do with radiator air as far as I can see it. Most people just chop the restictive parts out of it I think. It doesnt affect air going to the radiator.

no ive had these air boxes on for a week and drove the car 3 times.(ny is having very ****ty weather) once around town and the other on the freeway no sign of overheating but i do have a 200 degree fan switch so i dont know. but it blocks off the front radiator holes completely(basically like turning it into a trans am front end) so you need the air damn very much.

I have heard a few times of a custom air intake system routed through the fog lights to cause an overheating situation.

ok now i am confused..
Lordmetalz, does the custom air box connect to the air damn? do the custom airboxes go to where the fog lights are supposed to be? or is there two opens below, one for the airbox and one for the air damn? I look the material out from under the airbox to reduce restiction. I saw below there is a "scoop" type opening going to the outside that i wanted to connect the airbox to. but I am not sure if this is a good idea, but someone sells the airboxes on ebay, so i doubt they would do harm??
thanks!

go for it. i bought the boxes from the same guy from ebay. your foglights have plastic tubes behind them to direct the air across the radiator. your going to be sticking these tubes inside the air boxes you order so all the air with be taken from the front forced in cold fresh air up to your intake. once you take your filter housing off your going to have a plastic piece that sepraters your nose from your radiator. www.thirdgen.org they have a diagram. your going to have to hack threw this plastic to get your boxes over the fog light tubes. your also gonna have to cut your air boxes bottems off. the installation isnt to hard but its a pain in the *** it really is mine dont go down all the way so my air lid kinda hits the hood but there still ok. i havent had any problems overheating. like i said i have a 200 degree fan switch so i havent had any problems. also it has been 98 degrees up here so i may have problems in the future who knows. as for highway use i was running cool as a cucumber. and i defiently did notice a stronger pull on the highway. just dont expect to run 12,s with this mod you only pay 40 dollars your gonna get about 40 dollars worth of performance bu t you will feel a gain. and the sound is killer you can hear loud suction from your foglights when you turn it on so you defiently know its working.

all signs say do it.

no your fog lights stay in place. bend down and look behind your fog lights youll see your radiator threw a tube. then examine those tubes. they sit inside the ram air box .
