adjusting the tv cable

im having a little problem at wot she revs to 7grand before she shifts into second,, my tranny is fine she never slips a bit i think its either my tps sensor which i know is not adjusted right because i stripped on bolt out many years ago and am ordering a new throttle body with my goverment economy stimulus check,, my question is the tv cable,, i try and adjust every year like its called for, i depress the d lock, slide that plastic thing down(TWOARDS THE FIRE WALL) then i slowly open her to wot and when im done the shifts are to high they hold to 4grand when im slowly cruising so i have to get out and pull the little plastic thing back up a little(TWOARDS THE HEADLIGHTS) now my question is am i doing this right,, some one said i should be sliding the cable up (the cable that sits behind( or closest to the fire wall) should be sliding the cable housing up,, all along ive been sliding a plastic piece down twoards the fire wall. im lost and like i said i dont want to call it a slip but it revs awfully high before she catches and bangs into gear ONLY at w,o,t

NEVERMIND its 12.30am here in ny so i decided to go f@#k with that cable(my nieghbors love me:) well i was having the same problem another of our members where( i did a past blog search)i was scarred of breaking that cable so i never went to W.O.T with it and she was shifting hi, so tonight i just forced it and it clicked once and i drove it around, my shifts are very firm now, higher around 3 to 4 rpm instead of 2 and i didnt hit her to hard but i gave her a little at a 30mph roll and she cooked the tires and booked. i feel like a gained a 500hp lol i was driving around since 2002 like that wow thanks

Another way to do it is:
Press and hold the button, have someone else mash the gas pedal to the floor, and pull all of the slack out of the cable then release the button.

I did mine alone. It seems to be the way you did it. I pushed the "D" shaped button on the tv cable and pushed the cable towards the firewall. Then from under the hood forced the throttle wot til it couldn't click anymore. You have to really force it. Yea I felt like it was going to snap or explode into a million pieces. Mine shift right on now.
