adding 3.73 gears and a 700r4 shift kit
anyone hear of an upshift sleeve??????? mines shot and when im in overdrive i have a hard time getting the car to go fast out of thrid with out upshifting . and me hitting the gas harder. it still goes but do you remcommend i still put the shift kit in im getting a shift kit and 373 gear kit is there anyhing i should consider with the shift and gear kit besides replacing my speedo gear.
if your using TPI/ Auto, 3.73's dont help in the 1/4...most people go slower when adding 3.73 because you would be shifting into overdrive or way past 5000 RPM at the trap. Go with a 3.42/3.45 depending what rear you have.
That is not true 373's will help a stock tpi motor.First off no need to shift into od on the track(1/4 mile that is)With 373's in third which is 1to1 ratio will not put you over the 5000rpm mark at the finish line. When I had my 3rd gen I was running crazy times for what I had done and that was with 373's.The hole time I wished I had 4.10's.
good and bad news bad news is one of my seals blew and is leaking rear fluid slightly kicking it up twoards the front where the exhaust cross the rear axel. so i will be swapping gears in the next month. so tell me 3.73 are good for torque. also searve me will if i go to the store for a small cruise and pick up bread. im getting richmond gears with an installation kit so i should be good i take it . please please all the feed back is so welcome.
No, it will give you better torque multiplication. Your torque is set by the engine.
I have the richmond gears and you have to follow their instructions to the letter. I had someone who tried to do it the way he thought he would usually do it and it whined till he did it the way Richmond told him to do it. Make sure your mechanic understands this.

The servo is a part of the tranny. What are you doing with the tranny? You might need a rebuild but you won't know until you take the pan off. If you have a bunch of miles on it, why not get it professionally rebuilt and have them set the tranny to shift at whatever point you want and it will be bulletproof. Also, they can set it to have a shift kit in it
