Question Ac Delete ????

Got a 1991 z28 Camaro, 350, doing a emission delete, striping down engine bay. How do I do a successful ac delete, I know to get the special AC delete pulley but anything else will help!

Your also going to have to deal with getting the other fan to kick on. There's a sensor thats mounted in one of the tubes running from the condenser to the bottle that senses when the AC is on to kick on the second cooling fan.

Re: Ac Delete ????

that site makes it look like its so hard to delete your ac....they say you need a new dash and blah blah...if you have a serpentine setup, and just take the ac out, can't you just get a shorter belt or something instead of a pulley, just something I've heard...i'm gonna prolly make my own ONLY HEATER box, instead of putting that ugly thing in my engine bay...i'll design something and make it outta fiberglass...my fan's are hardwired, no worry about that...will the stock control unit in your dash work, it just wont' pump out ac right, it won't mess anythign else up right?

Re: Ac Delete ????

Removeing the AC won't mess up the workings of the stock control unit.
Once installed the non AC heaterbox doesn't look bad and free's up a BUNCH of room.
Yes you'll be running a shorter belt since the smog pumps gone but at least run a AC delete pully, your motor will look kinda odd without something on that side of the motor besides I dont know how you would route a belt without something there.
Your belt can't run from the tensioner pulley down to the crank pully,it has to go around something before heading downwards.

Re: Ac Delete ????

you can get a shorter belt and a ribbed pulley for the tensioner. There are a few diagrams on belt routing over at thirdgen.org in the tech/general engine forum.

I just used the A/C delete pulley.
