I failed to mention I had the matching performer plus manifold...
ok..today I go to do this.....dang it's too easy.Sure enough after I get everything off (even the BS envirocrap)I pull a lifter and..."wait...this is a roller"...I grab my cam box...."dang...these are flat!!!!(and about a 1/2 inch too short)" I look at the paperwork..."305...ok.....tbi...ok.......87-93...ok....5.7...awwwwww crap!"
So,I done had to cancel going to Bowling Green for the F-body show just to do this. The cars due in the body shop Monday to repair a fender bender and I'm going to have to cancel that.Im going to have to send the cam kit back to Summit and order roller lifters, hopefully I can get a LT1 cam in a junkyard this week.
So everyone keep in mind the Edlebrock 305 Performance kit is for a LG4 not the LO3.

Im not looking to rebuild the engine. In about 1 1/2 yrs when my wifes car is paid off Im putting a ZZ4 in.I just had a major problem (veeery loose timing chain) and was planning on doing a new cam while I was there.Im kinda pissed the summit catalog doesnt specify it wont work on a LO3.Hell, it said 305 tbi 87-93 and was meant for my intake so I bought it.Now I got to send the bastich back and find a new cam w/ ROLLER lifters.Any recommendations?
the further misadventures of Saiyanrage
Well, after much searching and phone calls to numerous sources for cam recommendations, I finally settled on the Comp Cams x-treme energy 08-500-08 and matching roller lifters (pt # 850-16).I ordered it Wed night. You can read about the chaos here http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...hreadid=174544
Well,Saturday I started about 10 am.Let me tell you guys, pulling lifters with vise grips after 14 yrs of crud is caked on is a major pita.Alot of ppl Ive talked to wanted to know why I was changing the lifters.Well,I got all them removed and three of them had small holes in them where they had wore.I tried to remove the peanut cam but the air dam was in the way so I had to remove it first. Then its time to put it back together!!!
The biggest pita about putting it together is the dang emissions crap. Its a big clusterphuk and in the way.It took about 1/2 hr to get the friggin valve cover on the passenger side!
We hooked up the battery to set the timing and it was waaaay off.Like 180* off!So we had to redo that.
And after evrything was on and we finally test started it we found out I cracked my thermostat housing
I replaced the housing checked,re-checked and triple-checked the hoses/wires.I changed the oil.
And it all adds up to POWER!
Dang it pulls hard now!
But...........Theres one final snag.Apparently my accident ( http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...hreadid=174544 ) may have cushed the wiring harness in the nose. For some reason my alternator isnt charging the battery.Exactly one week after the accident my alt & battery both went out and I had them replaced. Now the battery is drained AGAIN.I used my wifes car to jump it but the alt isnt charging it.Im going to have to mention that to the body shop when it goes in for repairs.
