95 neon for 86 t/a... fair trade?
I'd sell the neon for $1500, so what do you think of this conversation I had with the guy about the car?
For back ground info, I had the car back around 99 or so then sold it to him.
Oh and here's some pics of it: http://www.gdd-online.com/images/86TransAm/

TimberwolfZ28 (9:35:40 PM): think the motor is bad on the pull down? or have you checked the fuses and relays?

Seems pretty rough, but if I had a '95 Neon, I'd probably do the trrade
You'll need a bunch of new parts though. And this line:
GusDaDog (9:31:55 PM): playing card size on lip of trunk
would make me even more weary. If he means trunklids...those things aren't cheap! Good luck and let us know what you do.

yeah, it's a surfce rust spot on the lid about that size... I wouldn't trash the lid over it though... should be an easy fix.
Re reading his description it does sound like a lot of stuff, but when you start breaking them down they are pretty much all little things...
So I'm not sure. The neone is okay, but has some nagging issues. Leaks oil (probably head gasket and/or cam position sensor gasket), taps when cold (and sometimes when not), has a wild shimmy at 35-45 mph, but it does get 35 mpg and is real clean.

if the neon is your only car i would be weary if you need reliable transportation, as the ta needs alot, and the neon would be cheaper to operate
but the pics arent too bad, the rims are yuck.
parts shouldnt be too hard to find from a wrecker, just make sure you spend your coins on getting the car running reliably first before cosmetics.

Actually I have a bunch of cars, the neon is just one of them. the 86 t/a would just be another tinker toy.
No I don't owe anything on the neon either. Like I said it looks decent and runs farily good, but need some work soon (head gasket, etc).
I'm not committed to the trade or anything, it was just a thought that I am debating a little...

If you're just going to toy around with it for a bit, I'd go for it. As long as you have something else to drive while the T/A is getting fixed up, why not? Definitely dump the wheels though. That thing would look ten times better with the 16x8 crosslaced wheels on there.
