92 rs to 350
Re: 92 rs to 350
Unless you have a donor car to take parts off of, I wouldn't even attempt it. You'll need pretty much the whole front end off of a V8 3rd gen to make it work right, k-member, motor mounts, V8 coil springs, wiring harness, transmission, accessory brackets, etc., etc., etc.
Re: 92 rs to 350
it wouldn't take much work if you had a donor 350 or 305 donar car...It might take some time tho.....you need to take the whole drivetrain and swap it over to the V6 car, rearend, driveshaft, tranny, motor, and all the things ben mentioned....the whole shabang..
Re: 92 rs to 350
There is a ton of info on this in the V6 tech thread. I did it on a 99 RS its not the easiest thing I have ever done, but it can be done. Try to find you a wrecked Z28 to rob parts off of.... Go to your local salvage yard and try to find doners. If you decide to do it PM me I have alot of info on this. I just did mine 4 months ago......
Re: 92 rs to 350
I swaped a blown 2.8 for a 305 in my 88, and it wasn't too hard without a doner car. The driveshaft k member and trany crossmember and rearend are the same. You will need to get the correct front coil springs (You have to pull the coilsprings to get to the motor mount bolts anyway), accesory brackets, frame and engine brackets from a V8 car. I got all that for $50 at a local salvage yard. If you go carb and hei like I did, wiring and plumbing are cake though you will have to drop the tank to remove the electric pump if you want to run a mechanical pump. I had the car running and driving to the gas station with no hood and open headers after a 3 day weekend.
