91 Z28 engine question...

Did they make a TTop 91 z28 with a 350 or anyone know a website where I can find out???? I'm thinking they didnt, but my 91z is a hard top and I'm looking at buying another one to play with. I havent gone to look at it yet, but he says its all original with a 350...and has the 115 mph speedo....Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: 91 Z28 engine question...

well a 350 ought to have a 145 speedo like the originals that were only offered in hardtop coupes from gm. now there were some outsourced through various people so it is possible but it is not a true GM original it would be a customer special order/dealer/all around custom setup if it was in fact bought new that way.

i have seen 1 in person that had a window sticker and it was a dealer option through CC. so it's possible yes but GM never meant for it to be. reguardless sounds like a 205, many people don't know what they have or they lie as the 350 option is worth alot more seeing as how more then the engine was upgraded.

are the timing tabs on the timing chain cover in the same spot...for some reason I was thinking the 305's were more on the top of the cover and the 350's were more in the middle on the driver side....but I'm not for sure....

Re: 91 Z28 engine question...

as bad as it sounds i highly doubt it's original, reguardless you would know though. if it's original just ask to see the window sticker or paper work... if he truly has something that rare he'll have the work to back it up.

as far as the the engine yes there are numbers.... go to thirdgen.org as they will give you all the little key notes. unless it's a manual you'll know just driving the car.

Also...you can take a look at the options sticker in the rear hatch locking compartment to verify the stock options....also the VIN # would tell you.

Re: 91 Z28 engine question...

Look at the Vin number, the 8th didgit will be an 8 for a 350, E for 305tbi, and F for 305tpi.
