A friend of mine gave me his rear out of his 89 iroc. He replaced it with a moser 12-bolt, but thats besides the point.

My question is:

his car was an 89 iroc 350tpi

the thing i cant figure out; the calipers on the rear he gave me are not the aluminium PBR like the 89's should be, the are the similar design to the front calipers (steel type) its all complete (less metal brake lines and parking brake cables)

you guys think this rear is out of and older car? and what is the difference between the calipers? just design? and are all of the brake parts im going to replace need to be for the specific year rear? or are they all interchangable?

 

All 89 9-bolts had Aluminum PBR calipers with 11.655 dia rotors. I would check the rotor dia and if its is 10.5" and the calipers are cast iron the rear is a pre-1989 9-bolt.
