Planning on a swap very soon... trying to find out some information on the computer, this is my only worry! Was wondering on if i need to switch it over? How i could get around just leaving it in and just getting it to work for my lights blinker etc... Or what computer would i need for it to get it to work???

Your computer doesn't control any tail lights, brake lights etc... The only thing your computer will do in your case is lock-up the converter. If you use a th350 or a manual transmission, you'll be fine without the computer. If you keep the stock 700r4 tranny, you'll need if for the lock-up. Not sure if the computer would be different from any others in this aspect. Hope this helps!

or you can run a 12 switch and manualy lock up the convertor. however its not recomended on most stock auto transmissions.

Thumbs up Re: 88 Camaro 2.8L v6 to 350 carb - Computer ?

I'm not sure about 88's, but in my 87 2.8 I found that somewhere in the wiring my computer flipped a relay that turned my fuel pump on(you can keep the electronic fuel pump and just get a good fuel reg. to get the psi down to ~5 pounds), so you may have to find that relay and run either a kill switch or an accessory wire to it. You also will have to find another way to turn the ignition coil in your hei dist. if you go with some type of electronic ignition. I ran my coil off the same realy that controls the fuel pump and I haven't had a problem yet. But that's all I can think of that I needed to fix before my 350 would run. Rock on with your v6-v8 swap

theres a connector going to the coil that should have 2 wires,1 white (tach) and a pink (power) cut the connector off and put on some female ends to put in the HEI cap...pink for 12V source and white so the stock tach still works.

i used a Mallory fuel pressure regulator to knock down the fuel pressure down to a carbed psi. it cost about $70 but it works great, and uses the factory fuel line and return line.
