87 Iroc SB 350 headers

Anyone got any suggestions on nice headers? preferably coated and not just a black finish, i want a silver finish, maybe chrome. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions on what are the best. Y pipe also....

oh yeah, where do you guys get all your parts, i found a pretty nice site called Hawks Third Generation, that just deals with 3rd gen camaro's and firebirds and they seem pretty reliable. any other good sites?

A little expensive, but you can't go wrong with SLP 1 3/4 Stainless Steel headers. The "Y" pipe is included.

I have edlebrocks as well & they are pretty nice.

Hawks third gen doesnt just deal with 3rd gens any more they also sell 4th gen stuff.
I use Classic industries & year one as well. or Junk yards. For performance parts its normally Summit racing or LPE.

Edelcrock's are overrated. They're one of the worst for spark plug access. And the black paint on them will burn off in a month and they turn ugly ash white.

Do a search on this forum, and the exhaust forum over at www.thirdgen.org (where I moderate) and you will see the most popular headers are SLP's and Hooker 2055's.

Agreed that the SLP are by far the best header for the thirdgens, however they do have a kind of steep price for just shorties. But they are SS which is nice and come coated or non....

Thumbs down Re: 87 Iroc SB 350 headers

Edelbrocks are horrible, I have had mine on 4 years and they have minor rust pits in them and rust marks on same. A P.I.T.A to get to spark plugs and a pain to mount the Y-pipe to the headers.

I should have waited, saved and got the SLP's...

Re: 87 Iroc SB 350 headers

most of our stock heads are Angle plug & all Edlebrock headers are for Straight plugs. & If you are not using a Straight plug head it can really be a bytch changing plugs.

Re: 87 Iroc SB 350 headers

My stock heads are still a pain trying to change the plugs, I usually take it to the place where I work part time and rather pay the money and deal with the scraped knuckles and aggrevation.

Re: 87 Iroc SB 350 headers

My slp's are pretty good cant complain really. Hooker long tubes are the other header of choice but they hang really low and hurt your ground clearance

Did you get the ceramic coated ones? that also have a y-pipe.. or did you use some other ypipe?

Re: 87 Iroc SB 350 headers

yeah i noticed that the SLP headers are a lot more than most headers... Why is that? is it worth the extra money?

and also, what is the A.I.R that is on them?
