Do 87 Camaro Iroc's have electronically controlled transmissions?

 

No, they didnt start until 1993 with the LT1s.

 

you sure? i thought that the torque converter lockup was electronically controlled in the 700-r4.

 

The lockup is I think, but as far as the transmission in it's entirety being computer controlled, it is not.

 

shifting is controlled by the hydraulic valvebody
the tcc is operated by a solenoid in the valvebody

the 93 lt1 uses a 4l60 which essentially the same as a 700r4

94 comes the 4l60 e, which is an electronically controlled valve body

 

I'm installing a holley commander in a 87 iroc. How do I install it without out it effecting the electronic torque converter lockup???

 

are you using the CM 950 ecm or are you staying w/ the factory ecm? if staying w/ factory nothing to worry about. but if your goin w/ the cm950 i just suggest wiring up a toggle switch.

 

They also make lockup kits for around $100.00 b&m and tci make them also The toggle switch idea works until you forget to turn it off a few times and it frys the TCC then its big buck rebuild time ...
