can anyone tell how much nitrous would be safe to spray on a stock 305 ?

There is no definite number. There are many factors that affect the integrity of the engine. If it mechanically sound, properly tuned, and installed properly, a 100hp shot would be just fine.

Also realize that the 305 had cast aluminum pistons, not even hypereutectic, let alone forged. A 150 can melt cast aluminum if it is run slight lean. Be absolutely sure your air/fuel ratio is exact and can remain on target. See the N2O section for proper air/fuel ratio to prevent any damage.

CHP or Car Craft or somebody just sprayed a bone stock junk yard 350. They didn't blow it up until they sprayed over a 400 shot. I wouldn't reccomend you attempt that however.
