700-R4 Question....

I'm getting a free Camaro (85 2.8 auto) and since I already have a Camaro I'm giving it to my friend since she's been out of a car for almost a year. Only problem is it has no reverse. Is it worth trying to fix the tranny in it or should I replace the entire thing? Could it be anything else like a clip or bracket gone missing? Any help would be great!

I had the same problem where my car would not engage into reverse. I had to get a rebuilt trans put into my car becasue of it. I would def. go out and have it looked at by someone you trust. If you take it to a trans shop , they may just say u need the rebuild even if you dont... good luck!

If reverse is the only problem and it goes into the forward gears and drives fine then it's an internal problem and it needs a rebuild. It will probably be cheaper to find a junkyard trans, but a rebuild will be more reliable. Ebay is also a good option.
