454 in a 86 f-body
It's your car, drop whatever you want into the engine bay. Unless the engine is built right and making some decent power, you can build a small block cheaper and still make just as good of power.
There are 454ci motors that made some pretty pathetic HP and small blocks that make some great power. If you want to have cubic inch bragging rights to be better than your Mustang nemesis, then go ahead.
Think about it.

Look at my car for example,I paid LESS THEN 4 grand (shipped) for my complete BBC LONGBLOCK,all I did was buy an intake and carb, already had a distributor, threw some RR's on it for fun and im running 11.1@120 w/ less than 10 grand including the price of the car. The motor is damn near 500 HP with a plain jain hydraulic cam and stock OVAL PORT heads. Find me a carb'd small block runnin these times ALL MOTOR running 93 octane and not having to turn it 7,000 RPM's,good luck b/c you prob. wont find it.

www.bmrfabrication.com has the cross member you need to bolt the turbo 350/400 right into what youve got.
I hope your not doing this swap on a daily driver lol

I don't see any problem with a 500+ HP big block as a daily driver.. The engine in my 78 Z (408 ci BB) was dynoed at 503HP on the motor and I drove that car to Detroit form Wi three times, and regularly drove the car to work and back , now to stretch the imagination a little further Im putting that engine into my recently purchaced Pro Streeted T/A full tubs, cage, backhaved / with ladder bars 9" 3.50 gear and a TH-350 trans i'll be driving it all next spring and summer working any bugs out and trying to get it into the 10 sec range on spray while driving it to the track! we'll see what happens but I know the chassis is capable of fast times it's last engine was a 6-71blown 496 with over 1100 HP now that wasen't too streetable ! but it still made a few runs through town on fri nights ...
