Question 383 stroker

i am wondering about pistons

i am building a 383 and when completed should be putting out 400-500 hp and around 500ft lbs of torque but was wondering what kind of piston to go with forged or hypereutectic

i bought a eagle 4340 forged crank and eagle esp h beam rods

this engine is going in my 91 camaro and is going to be a hot street motor as a daily driver

also how is the scat forged cranks and rods?

well if your planning on spending that much money, which you will to get that kind of horsepower i'd go with the best of the best.... alot of it depends on if you are setting the engine up for a power adder as well.

I have a 388 (60 over) in my S-10. Go ahead and spend the extra money on Forged. I wish I had. I was on a budget and mine has cast in it. No spray for me.

I've sprayed Hypereutectic pistons to the tune of ~500 HP in a 400, sending it into the high 11s on street radials. Keith Black slugs. Put tens of thousands of miles on it, towed my boat with it. Never a problem. Tough little slugs.

It's FAR more important with nitrous to:

1. Have adequate fuel supply. Never EVER run lean!
2. Don't try to eek the last bit of Hp out of it by cranking up the spark advance. Even with a basic plate kit it's a good idea to run a retard.
3. Don't go nuts with compression. 10:1 on pump gas and 150HP of nitrous is too much. You can get away with it for a while, but eventually you'll pop 'er.
4. Don't be burning oil. If the rings are going south you'll quickly grenade the motor on the botle. Oil vapors serve to lower the octane of the fuel. It doesn't take much, either. if you can see any oil smoke, it's way too much.
