Brother is building him a "fun jeep" to do some street driving and rock crawling. He picked up an 85 Vette 350 TPI competed from intake to oil pan and accessories.

I wanted to know if we can take off the AIR stuff and EGR stuff and be OK. I am thinking that a new chip will be needed and that is fine. He is also wanting to run SD instead of MAF mode.

Can the AIR and EGR be removed without problems? BTW he put on some hedman shorties that does not have EGR provisions, if we have to run the EGR I guess some different headers will be needed....

 

The AIR can be removed with no problems. The egr system will give you a check engine light sometimes, but you can disable it in the chip.

 

Basically you just need a new chip and you will go through more cats without the air. And don't plan on passing visual inspection or the sniffer.

 

You can pass the sniffer emissions tests fine, I did it with a way more radical combo.
