i have an 88 iroc with a 350 tpi with a t-5(if that makes any difference or not about headers) and am looking for a good set of headers. i wouldn't mind a set to full lenght but am worried about ground clearence and if they would even fit up in my engine bay since it is pretty tight. i also thought about some hooker shorties, i was looking at the 2055s but i don't need all that smog and emessions injection crap since i got rid of that pump thing becasue it was making a very loud poping nosie. if anyone could tell me what they have and if they like it or what you would suggest, that would be great
and does anyone else think the hooker cat back exhaust is crap becasue that is what i sounds like on my car and i was thinking of going to a flowmaster 80s muffler instead

 

heades,youll get a whole lot of debate,but your basically looking at shorties with a 1 5/8 pipe,slp make s 1 3/4 but $$$$$$$$,so wel stick with basic.
most makers have shorties w/o air tubes,so dont let that bother you.those hookers you listed ,a lot of guys here like and they make the same version w/o tubes.heck a lot of guys swear by the "summit"generic brand.

heres where youll get into a trick bag.the collectors,some collectors get tapered down to fit the stock y pipes and measure out at 2 - 2 1/4 inchs...kinda defeating the purpose of a free flowing exhaust.hookers i think are 2 1/2 collectors,hedman makes 3 inchs(nice)youll have to look at the makes and see the specs.
but wait ,most of these bigger headers(except edelbrocks) will not fit your stock y pipe,so youl lhave to have yours customized or buy the matching y pipe from the maker.mor ecost btw...
also manual trans dont make a diference.enjoy
