350 TBI --- Where is the MAF?
350 TBI --- Where is the MAF?
Not to sound like a complete tool... but a friend has a 350 TBI silverado, which I know isn't an f-body, but the design should be the same. I had an '89 RS with a 305 TBI... I just never cared/thought about where the MAF is. Nothing in his engine bay jumps out and screams "MAF!" to me like on a car-setup like my grand am. Any feedback (and pictures!) would be helpful.
Re: 350 TBI --- Where is the MAF?
TBI engines do not use a MAF. They are considered a speed density system. They use inputs from various other sensors, like the TPS, MAP, etc and reference tables in the PCM/ECM. The ECM then makes engine airflow calculations accordingly.
Re: 350 TBI --- Where is the MAF?
they dont have one.
TBI's have a MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor instead. Its on the left side of the intake, has a connector w/ a couple wires going to it and also has a vacuum line going to it.
