350 question

I just bought a camaro irocz, and the previous owner had a 305, but it overheated so he had a 350 from a vette put in there. Is there a difference from a vette TPI 350, and just a regular TPI 350 out of a camaro or trans am? And how would I go by identifing if it is one or the other. From what I heard they are different, is there a place I can look on the block to find some numbers to identify the engine in it? And one more thing, how much horsepower stock do these engine have?

Depending on what year its from depends on how much HP it has.

You should be able to get the Engine code off the engine should be under the driver side head.

The TPI 350's made anywhere from 225-250hp roughly. The Vette being on the higher side for reasons I don't know, possibly higher compression but looking that up takes too much time.

The heads are identical in shape and size but the vette got aluminum versions instead of iron like the F-Bodies got.

Another spot for numbers is on the block behind the drivers side cylinder head. Looking downward from the cowl area with a flashlight and mirror works well. Degreaser optional.

Only Vettes had aluminum heads--Correct

I bet you're around ~250 to the ground. Figure a 245hp motor, thousands of miles, probably could use a tuneup, and just headers. If you're talking about the Hypertech, go ahead and subtract HP. Just kidding but those things are pretty worthless. Headers will net you some HP but without a catback not much at all.
