are you wanting to stay with the tpi set-up or go back to carb, or what? What kind of 350 do you want, what is it going into, what are your future plans for it?
You could try looking around your local junk yard, on E-bay, in Summit Racing, Jegs, and PAW mags. It all depends on what you want to do how much you want to spend and what you what the engine to be able to do.

well i just basically need a new engine and i want more speed / power than my 305 gave me. Do you guys know if ordering the engine from an auto parts store is as good as one from Jegs or summitracing. Because my cuzin works at Kragen and he can get a lil discount. Anyways it only costs about $1,700 - 250 if i take my old 305 in after its out but i dont think i wanna give them my engine.

MOST( please read NOT ALL) of those engines will be ok, if all you want is a driver. They are mostly just reworked engines that have been machined to work again. IF you are going with a more power, bigger cam, hotter engine, check to see what they have available, then check with the local boneyard and see if you can't get a 4bolt main block for a not much more...If you aren't sure got to Hotrod.com and look thru some of the articles on engine building. They have a pretty good selection to give you an idea. The 350 is going to be more power than the 305. And with a few goodies added you will have a bit more than a stock 350. Do some homework and see what you really want to do. A lot of people are making stroker motors out of their 350 turning them into 383s. That is something that you might want to check into. It is something that I am thinking about. It also depends on how much you want to invest into your motor. It's your money. Have fun.

Crazy idea but since winter is coming, yank it out and rebuild it the way you want.

One of those things, everyone wants it cheap and easy. I don't think those two words go together.

You can get a "cheap" 350, but chances are it won't come with very good cylinder heads. Cam/manifold control horsepower, but cylinder heads support it. There are a few heads out there for 500-1000$ (vortec, sportsman, the list goes on) that will support good power. I don't think you'll find them on those cheapo reman 350s. Since those engines won't have the heads to support power, they won't come with manifolds/cams that make power.

If your going to spend the time and money, do it once, do it right. I just converted my 305TPI to a carbed 350, I'm hoping for 350HP at the flywheel and 13.9xxxxx in the 1/4 mile. I went through 3 bad distributors before the 4th one worked, but other then that it was relatively smooth. I spent around 2000$ on the engine itself, then another 1000$ on misc stuff to finish the swap (protorque ministarter, headers, ypipe etc etc)

Are you going to do this yourself or pay someone to put it in?

For $1700, I'd build my own 350. Those reman ones from the store are not really performance motors.

Find a good 350 shortblock, get some L98 Vette Heads (or the Vortec heads and the Vortec TPI base), choose a cam to match the power you want, etc....

305 to 350 needs injector changes. Can't avoid that easily. Don't bother to clean the 19 pph ones. Just get new 24 pph ones for the 350

Weight: 1 lbs.

This is too much for one injector. You can get a set of 8 MSD or Accel injectors for $230, instead of $520 for GP sorensen OEM injectors.

Ford Racing injectors are about $225 from Jegs, I believe.
