Thumbs up

Thanks for the insight on the cams.....The only thing is that they are on the way and I really need my car back on the road (wife is borrowing a car) in the worst way. The guy at SDP said " The cam that comes with the 350 HO motor will not work with your fuel injection...What you need is the TPI cam part # blah blah" So I took his word for it and rolled the dice!!!! I hope I just see more gain than what I had originally (L98)...What do you guys think??? Will I see a big difference in power????

Later

Keep you in the know with my saga!!!

Summit has a great sale going on of the TPI runners from SLP. They're discontinued, and last I hard were selling for $180ish. Would be a good addition since the stock TPI stuff is going to be choking the HO motor...
The springs maybe, but the retainers will hit the valve guides at .420" lift. Re-read the post I made about the cams. Also, those springs only have 88lbs of pressure on the seat. Thats horrible.

Those SLP runners from Summit are all sold out now.

One of the mags just said the stock Vortec-head springs will not handle any lift above .420". Thats why that engine comes with a crappy cam.
No need to re-read it because it's flat out wrong. The retainers aren't going to hit jack**** till over .470ish, perhaps you missed the part about me running .462/.469 lift on them just fine... I know multiple people running that cam, and a few running the XE268 cam with .477/.480 on stock Vortecs... Yet to hear of anyone running into problems below that...

Chevy runs .435/.460 lift on that crate motor straight from the factory, so obviously the magazine is wrong on .420... I actually saw that magazine article in Carcraft that said that I think, yet elsewhere carcraft lists .470ish in other articles. Oh well. General accepted limit is around .460-.470, any higher and you should definitely check for interference.

I've been wondering if I couldn't pick up a bit more power up top by swappin on some better springs though, stockers being borderline and all. Can't hurt...

Really interesting, because my dad measured two sets of stock Vortec heads, and the retainers hit before .460" lift. I guess he had different Vortec heads than you have. Either way, he upgraded the springs and retainers with some Manley units, and now they're ready to rock with a ZZ4 cam.
