Angry 305 TPI Issues

My 87 IROC has been having issues lately and I'm not really sure how to go about tackling this one. When I'm driving all of a sudden it'll lose it's power. It'll run but it'll feel like something is holding it back. It seems like it's just being robbed of power. If anyone could give me pointers on what to look for I would appreciat it. Right now I don't have access to an OBD I scantool and iKd rather not take it to the shop if at all possible. Thanks in advance

check fuel pressure to start. Check your MAP ans TPS sensors. Alot of times the TPS sensor will get a flat spot in it....

89 and earlier TPI does not have a MAP sensor. The MAF has been replaced recently. it made it do this less often however there's probably another underlying problem. The TPS sensor does makes sense though because when it's doing this I can floor it and it'll accelerate some. Still won't have all the power but if i slowly let off the gas and not try to push it down again I'll have enough power to cruise a long. Thanks that just may be the problem.

sounds like the coolant tem sensor. my 86 S-10 would act up at the same place everyday and i sat down and thought abut it and the CTS came to mind. after i replaced it the truck ran right immidiatly.
the CTS has a few diff metals in it that expand and contract at certain temps and eventually one or more of these metals will lose their properties and cause drivibility issues. my truck when acting up would lose power and if i let off the gas it would idle fine but when i hit the gas it would choke back down.

I agree about it being the CTS, my 92 with TBI did the exact same thing and it turned out to be the CTS.
