Which 305 heads for 350

Was planning on a stock rebuild for my 350. The entire bottom end is recently rebuilt. So currently there are -12cc dish pistons dropped in the hole. Which 305 heads can i use to gain a little compression and streetable performance. I'm guessing 58cc heads would put me at about 9.5:1...correct?
I currently have a set of 193's on the motor (they suck).

would a set of 305 tpi heads be a noticeable improvement over the 193's up in the higher rpm's? What are some other affordable factory 305 heads or other heads that would improve street performance? Cant find L98's affordable lately and vortecs are outragous around here.

Thats a great write up on home porting heads. Read the whole thing. It says somewhere in there that pretty much any 305 head will do as long as its not TBI heads. ANY 305 head?
I'm looking to pull low 14's in full street trim. ANY 305 head?

Yup. With the exceptions of the TBI head and the 70s 305 heads (which I suspect are hopeless due to smog constraints).

When done properly these heads can theoretically produce 500 hp under ideal conditions.

Look for the 601, 416 or 081 castings.

Mine should produce mid-14s at the track. Add a 2500 rpm TC and you ought to be in the low 14s. Go with 3.73 rear gears and I don't know how you could stay out of the 13s.

Check out the classifieds sections on thirdgen.org for some l98 heads. I'm surrently going through the motions of obtaining a set of 083's (64cc) for my L05. Yup, it has the same crappy heads as you do

Advice taken. Last week i worked out a deal with a board member to get a set of L98 heads.

The 350 block came from a 94 or 95 Z71. Is it already set up for a roller cam?

Stock L98 heads are NOT the hot ticket, believe it or not. They hardly flow any better than 305 heads with smaller valves.

But, take those L98 heads and port and polish them like I show you and you will really have something.

It is just that I know from personal experience how much work is involved in changing heads. To not take advantage of the chance to port and polish them now would be a mistake you will truly kick yourself in the butt over.

I also totally agree with sitting bull on the porting of the l98 heads. If you do get the 305 heads, you will want to install bigger valves anyway (they are tiny).
I am not sure what exact year that the trucks went to roller. Mine is an 87, and is not roller. A friend of mine has a 95, and it was roller (now it's a solid). I've heard that 92 was the year. To be sure, just take the intake off, or run your casting numbers. (Now would be a good time to freshen everything up and you can also port the intake too.) I did mine, but only did minimal gasket matching of the intake ports. But I did polish the whole exterior to a chrome-like shine Looks pretty good if I do say so, myself. ( I wish I could figure out how to upload a pic on here from my PC...)
