Three Wishes..........

......would be bigger holes, biggervavles, and bigger lobes. But those are wishes and not helping you any! Two out of the three would work, and the first one don't count.

well an intake manifold might be a good start. Id agree with geezer though if you want to go fast for cheap there is no substitute for putting your baby on the bottle.

1. Nitrous Express LT1 Wet nitrous kit
2. 1-5/8" Headers + Y-Pipe (Headman possibly or hooker)
3. Port match your entire intake and Port the plenum fully

The Nitrous kit you can find used and in good shape. $500-600 can get you an ENTIRE system with all of the safety and "luxury" items you'd want including mostly a Fuel pressure safety switch, a full throttle switch, bottle heater, possibly a remote bottle opener!, the switches needed to operate, a bottle heater, a purge valve, pressure guage, and maybe more. I found mine for $650 with all of that...it was WELL used put it that way. a 75 or 100hp jetting is really fun and the torque it generates is unbelieveable

Headers and Y-Pipe you'd need to shop around a little. I was happy with the fit and finish of my old Headman headers and Y-pipe but my complaint was with the 3 bolt flanges used on the collectors, I overtightened them ans they leaked a little. I believe the Headers are a little over $200 and the y pipe is $100. Really cheap and very effective if you're on a budget and you said you are so...it's an option

Porting and port matching TPI parts. Do a search for websites with picture on doing this. I'm thinking you'd have $100 or so left and you could buy a small porting kit from Standard Abrasives or a similar company. Remove the intake manifold completely and basically smooth out the insides with sanding rolls and carbide bits. The smoother the better. Sand down any casting ridges and ridges formed by the meeting of metal surfaces, etc. The plenum can be opened up a lot internally. The ridges located just behind the front throttle body openings need to be ground down with a good carbide bit followed with sandpaper rolls.

If you have money left, K&N Air filters always help in a stone stock TPI airbox and also ducting cold air up to those new filters. Goodluck and let us know what you decide, I know I'm interested.

New intake? Like the TPIS Bigmouth? I'd just port the stock one, and while you're at it the runners/plenum/etc. Headers if you don't have them.
SFC's

3 wishes? Free tires for life, free gas for life, and free insurance for life.

Seriously though.....SFC's are great, headers will help a lot, and porting the intake is very cost effective (assuming you have another way to get around while it's taken apart.) That's what I would do.

Assuming you have the peanut cam I'd put a LT1 cam in it, port the plenum & base, and get some headers. Then down the road get a set of S/R torqer 305 heads. Of course you'll need to have someone burn you a custom chip to optimize it.

I change my third option to GOOD tires. hehe BFG Drag Radials sized 255/40/16 or ET streets that fit nicely on your stock rims. Nothing huge, just something that sticks good, probably a 26X10.5X16 size.

Nitrous+Headers+Tires= Wave to the LS1 as you pull ahead

Then port match the TPI intake and port the plenum it's still a cheap mod to do.

Vortec or Fastburn heads require the special intake, like the Vortec TPI Intake from SDPC.
