Question 3 gen question

A friend of mine just bought a 90 GTA and it needs front struts to pass state inspection. Could someone shed some light on what brand works best and why you like that particular brand over another. Thanks for any input you can give.

KYB is what I have and they were reasonable on price. I've just always used them. They are firm but still give a good ride for highway. I think they were $160 for both. Then $80 to install at a shop.

Re: 3 gen question

For the street, a good non-adjustable shock like KYB's or Bilstiens work fine. Just have to deside how much you want to pay. For any track use you would want to upgrade to an adjustable or double adjustable shock like Koni's or Penski's or coil overs. Really depends on how you drive and how much you want to spend. Personally I have a set of adjustable Koni's on my 84, that I really like a lot. Unfortunately they don't make them any more.

Re: 3 gen question

Ok. I just checked my invoice. They were $56 each $112 for both front struts. I used part #236001 from coximport.com. My shop charged $154. So total cost done was $266. When I first bought this car the front end bounced around like it had hydrolics the struts were so bad. You know, like the big Chevy Caprices do after 25 years of not replacing them. It was like I bought a new car after the new ones were installed.

Re: 3 gen question

Hey thanks for the replies My friend went with the KYB's. He got them from Summit for 40 something. I just saw this car for the first time over the weekend and has to be one of the cleanest 2500 buck GTA's i've ever seen.
