Re: 2.8L to 5.7L engine swap???

I forgot to ask. Its the same tranny as the 305s have except for the bell housing, If I put a 350 or a 305 in and change the bell housing, do I also have to change the tranny mounts, or will it sit right where it needs to be as it is????????? Also again, can my t-5 handle a 350??????
thanks,
Joe

Well!! Speaking from experience I did exactly what you want to do. I pulled the lightweight out and put a heavyweight in. I went carb with a EDL-1406 non emissions you will probably need emissions EDL-1400. I basically deleted the function of the computer as far as the motor goes. I placed shorty headers on it(wrapped them too). Bought a LS1 T56 that is without the use of the fork...the best for you would be with the fork. I have an aluminum driveshaft, auburn posi limited slip with 3.73 gears. The clutch is a Centerforce. Had to do some modifications cutting the floor board about 1-2 inches toward the rear. Changed the springs and shocks. You will also need a new Torque arm if you go with a T56. Crossmember also. It is a challenge especially if you do it yourself as I did...wiring too.

Does your car come with A/C? Get yourself the V8 motor that you wish. You will need the V8 motor mounts. Buy a Haynes or Chilton manual and it will help you in the mounts placement. See if you can get a hold of some serpentine brackets from a V8 motor. You will need a setup like this one http://gmpartsdirect.com/results.cfm...umber=12497698 .
You can find this stuff used from ebay or even on this site. Or if you need I can supply you with a guy I know in South Carolina that has a Camaro graveyard.
