No. Not from the VIN. In fact, If I'm not mistaken, and without looking at any resources, that's a TPI 5.0L.

You need to look at the RPO codes to see if it's a 1LE.

Is this your vehicle or something you are looking at purchasing?

EDIT: oh, and you're missing a digit..

Couple questions for Ya...

Is it a 5 speed? Does it have dual catalytic converters? Does it have bigger 11.6 inch front rotors? Does it have an aluminum spare tire in the hatch? These are a few of the telltale signs that You may have a 1LE.

Rear disc brakes also. Although it could be a B4C or just a G92 with the rear discs

Yes it is a 305 TPI as denoted by the f in the vin. But I'm pretty sure you could get the 1LE package with the 305 tpi and 5 speed combo.

It is auto with overdrive. Pretty run down so i'm not sure about the other parts. Current owner is convinced it is 1LE. Based your feed back I'm thinking NOT a 1LE.

You have a lame 305 TPI/A4 combo. It puts out 195 hp and 290 lb ft. of torque. It probably has 2.73 gears too. Don't get me wrong it's got some decent low end grunt but it's not the combination that would even allow for the 1LE package. The car needed to be a 350 TPI or a 305 TPI/T5 combo to even consider the 1LE option.

Actually its 210 HP for 90-92 305 TPI automatics. And 1LE's have no air conditioning, no power locks, no power windows, and no foglights.

And as Rik said, it has to be a 350/auto or 305/5-speed to be a 1LE.

Hey Kevin! I recognize You from thirdgen.org... But anyways are You sure that the 305/A4 combos made more than 200 hp stock? My buddy had a 91 Ta with the 305 TPI/A4 and it was a speed density motor. My 87 305 TPI/A4 TA had the same peanut cam with MAF and we both had 2.73 gears. We both ran neck and neck. We ran really close to each other. Our buddy with a bone stock 83 H.O. ran us both down! I don't know if it was the 3.73 gears on that car that did it,,,,, But damn it was quick!!!

My Camaro White Book shows 205hp for auto. Manual got 230hp since dual cat was mandatory.

Info from: Camaro White Book printed 2003. Info on 67-02

Sorry but this is not entirely true. I have a 91 1LE with both power windows, mirrors and door locks. You are correct about the AC and fogs.

Crappy scans but hopefully you can see that a 1LE car can have options. Also any dealer can print theRPO codes. I had my local parts dept. print these off a couple years ago.

My mistake, its 205 HP. You do NOT have a peanut cam. Only 88-89 305 automatics have them. 87's do not and 90-92's do not. Yes its probably the 3.73 gears that caused him to run you guys down, plus the better exhaust. The 88-92 305/automatics have the tiny TBI exhaust, while the HO cars have the better bigger exhaust.

I've never heard of a 1LE having power options, but I guess anything is possible.
