1991 Camaro Z28, a steal??

Well i found this ad a local newspaper, it reads....

1991 Camaro Z28
350TPI, 700R4, Posi, Blue with grey int, light body damage on drivers side. $1200 obo

Well i called the number looking for any and all info on the car.
2nd owner, has original documents/paperwork on the car, car has 120,000 miles. New tires, brakes, exhuast.

However the lady that i talked to really didn't know too much about the car. Her son is selling it and he's due to call me back tomorrow.

I plan on asking for a vin# so i can make sure it IS exactly what he claims.(its amazing how many people mistake their 305 for a 350 )

Once i get that info i can also check out what kind of rear end gears he has(maybe the 3.42??) From what i read in the ad, and assuming he made no mistakes in the ad, IS THIS A STEAL OR WHAT????

But my main question is, how difficult is body work on these thirdgens?Im going to need to put a new drivers side fender on it, but i want a really professional look without having to spend tons of money. I've seen a few camaro's with new fenders and quarters, but it seems that the new body panel always seems to stick out. Is this a re-occuring problem amoung third gens??
I see it alot, and i really dunno why.

OH yah, and should i buy this thing or what??

Thanks,
Tim89Rs

depends on what company you use for the pannel...going the junkyard route is always the best for money seeing as how it doesn't have to be a 91 pannel.

sounds like a decent deal provided all things are in tact and it isn't too rusted out. i'd easily pay that now for one in good unrusted shape. the gfx's are worth that much new!

Yeah man, plus the L98 (generally go for around $800) tranny (150) rear (200). Buy it, even if it can't be made into a good driver you can part it out and make tons! Good luck man.

You need the RPO list to check what it has. They will be 3 characters alphanumeric. Like G80 means it has a posi. GU5 would be 3.23 Ratio, etc. Link
